South Ribble Tennis
Centre
A recent project carried
out during 2001 on behalf of Dew Construction Limited for South
Ribble County Council.
The installation included
internal lighting (to comply with the Lawn Tennis Association requirements),
emergency lighting, external lighting, fire alarms, intruder alarms,
lightning protection, distribution, power, CCTV, public address
system and telephone system.
|
|
|
|
The installation comprised
of four new indoor tennis courts, gym, aerobics studio, fitness
suite, shop, viewing gallery and various ancillary areas.
Special considerations
were taken into account during the design of the lighting installation
to meet with the LTA's requirements, fittings were arranged so that
they were not in the centre of the field of view during play, and
not within a clear height zone of the court.
|
|
Care was also taken to
avoid glare from the installation caused by either the location
of the fittings or contrast between the source and the surface of
the hall.
This was achieved by
installing the luminaires along the edges of the tennis courts and
slightly angling the fittings towards the tennis courts playing
area.

Zen Internet Headquarters.
A recent £100,000.00
plus contract carried out for Williams Tarr & Co Ltd.
The installation was
a complete new build within Rochdale. The works carried out included,
Mains distribution, lighting, power, analogue addressable fire alarm,
intruder alarm, access control, lightning protection and data containment.
|
|
The building was architect
designed, with an exterior of 90% glass and it was specified that
all containment should be totally concealed.
With no false ceilings
or chasing, this was achieved by installing the containment and
wiring for all services within the floating computer floors on the
above floors and making the final connections through the floor
slab.

|
The Mains Distribution
installation consisted of a Castell lock, Automatic / Manual change
over system, which changes mains to generator back up on mains failure.
A UPS system was also installed to all computer equipment.
All small power to the
open plan offices was carried out utilising 3 compartment floor
boxes, c/w power, data and voice outlets. All wiring was concealed
within the floor voids on a containment system of galvanised tray.
The installation was carried out in 2001.
